Green cart drop off begins Tuesday across Lethbridge

Green carts are officially starting to arrive in preparation for the Curbside Organics roll out slated for Tuesday.

The first part of the city to get their new green carts for organics will be in the Garry Station and Country Meadows in the north-west. Cart delivery will then move south over the next month, with residences with curbside collection expected to have a green delivered by May 12.

Around 34,000 homes will be switching organic waste from their black carts into these new green carts. According to a release from the City of Lethbridge, over half of what we throw out is organic waste, which will then be turned into high-quality compost at the organics processing facility.

The first green cart collection for the city is slated for May 16, with the carts collected weekly from May to October and then changing to bi-weekly from November to April.
