Updated: One person in custody following high risk incident on Stafford Drive North

Update: Police say Dave Elton Park is now open as of 4:50 p.m. Official say the investigation is ongoing and an update is expected tomorrow, but the public can resume regular use of the area.

Lethbridge Police says one person is in custody after what they call a high-risk incident on Stafford Drive North on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities, who were on scene shortly after 3 p.m., closed a section of the 600 block of Stafford, including Dave Elton Park, as part of their investigation. While details are limited, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services remain on scene extinguishing a fire that was set at the residence in question.

Members of the public are directed to continue to avoid the area at this time.
