Council approves parking fine increase at Lethbridge College

Students at Lethbridge College will be facing increased fines if they’re caught parking without a permit.

The college applied to City Council to amend a local traffic bylaw in order to raise parking fines to $50 that would be reduced to $35 if paid within seven days.

Tickets are currently $30 dollars but are reduced to $15 if paid in a week.

The amendment was approved by City Council at its regular meeting Tuesday.

Lethbridge College noted in its submission to Council “the current fine structure is insufficient to encourage those parking on its grounds to purchase the required permit.”

The change should come into effect on September 1st.

Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know.
