Lethbridge Police conducting community survey

Next month, you might be getting a call about the police. Starting July 2, PRA Inc. will start conducting a random telephone survey on behalf of the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS).

Officials say the 2024 Community Survey will help evaluate the performance of the LPS, the satisfaction of residents and their perceptions on safety.

The survey will also serve to gather recommendations for improvement and help establish the community’s policing priorities.

In a news release, the LPS says, “Community policing is based on the principles of partnership, ownership, problem-solving and quality service, providing law enforcement agencies with the ability to respond to the unique policing needs of their community.”

“Effective community policing requires ongoing dialogue with citizens and a collaborative approach to identify community needs and expectations.”

Surveying by phone will take place over two to three weeks. The survey is confidential and should take about eight to 10 minutes to finish.

Results from the survey, which will be released later this summer, will help guide the LPS’ 2025 Annual Policing Plan.
