Lethbridge County Fire Restriction lifted

Lethbridge County’s Fire Restriction has been lifted. Cooler temperatures and moisture over the week have decreased the risk of fire spread.

Fire permits can once again be applied for online.

Looking ahead to the coming weekend, temperatures are forecast to be hot with little to no precipitation. “We anticipate we may need to re-activate the Fire Restriction later this week,” says the County.

The County encourages everyone to consider if they are prepared for emergencies this wildfire season. “We have already seen communities evacuated this spring from approaching wildfires,” adds the County.

There are a few simple steps to take to be ready for these kinds of situations:

  • Download the Alberta Emergency Alert app to receive live-saving notifications to your phone
  • Keeping vehicles fuelled up in case of an evacuation
  • Adding one thing to your emergency kit each time you go shopping
