Coaldale set to become a winter wonderland with inaugural Winter Fest event

The Town of Coaldale is extending the chance to celebrate the holidays this year with the inaugural Winter Fest celebration.

According to the Town of Coaldale officials, Winter Fest will kick off on November 29th with the town’s 24th Annual Country Christmas Night of Lights Parade. Following the annual event, the holiday spirit is expected to continue throughout the following weeks, with local community groups, businesses, and organizations hosting numerous holiday-themed events, including markets and live performances in Civic Plaza.

Community Experience Manager for the Town of Coaldale Clayton Varjassy explains, when planning the upcoming event organizers knew they wanted to use Civic Plaza for the majority of activities. One of the reasons for this is because of the outdoor ice rink which is expected to be ready in time for skating at the beginning of the festival, dependent on the weather.

“On top of that, there are gas fire pits and a concession available for community groups to use and serve hot chocolate out of, ” Varjassy says. “Our vision is to transform downtown Coaldale, along with the Plaza, into a true winter wonderland that residents and visitors can enjoy throughout the holiday season.”

The parade on November, 29th is set to start at 7 p.m. and is expected to include floats decorated with a variety of Christmas lights and decorations; along with the possibility of Mr. and Mrs. Claus making an appearance. Following the annual event, there will be several other highlighted activities happening in the following weeks including Glow Skate on December 7th and the Winter Fest Finale on December 21st.
