Picture Butte welcomes Santa Claus during the community’s Winter Wonderland celebration Nov. 29 from 3-9 p.m.
Activities include photos with Santa, hot chocolate, popcorn and donuts, Christmas music, a silent auction, crafts for kids, hayrides, a maker’s market, sales at participating businesses and a toy and food drive.
President of the Picture Butte and District Chamber of Commerce Eva Penner says a lot of businesses around town have a box for food or toy donations during this year’s festivities. “We’re going to fill up an ambulance at the Fire Hall with toys and food.”
Last year, Penner explains, the event was held during the day, and it seemed a lot of people missed out on the Christmas celebrations. “The hayrides, just the nighttime festivities, having Christmas music playing and rearranging the whole town to have full Christmas spirit.”
“I think that’s what people are really looking forward to this year – is having it in the evening again and getting all the businesses involved,” adds Penner. “A lot of the community associations are getting involved, including the fire department and the ag society. We’re trying to collaborate on this and make it a success.”
Penner believes the community needs a festival to brighten up the spirits of residents and visitors. “We need that celebration. We’re hoping the local shops will be supported and a lot of people will come out.”
“Come on out and see what our town is all about and enjoy Christmas festivities,” notes Penner.
