Holiday ‘smiles’ to support Green Shirt Day campaign

The holiday edition of the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie is helping to support organ donation awareness until November 24th.

Friend of the Boulet family Greg Thomson says by teaming up with local Tim Hortons $0.75 of every holiday smile cookie will go towards Green Shirt Day with the other $0.75 cents going to support Tim Hortons camps.

“With the Boulets, that $0.75 will stay local within the Green Shirt Day Campaign,” Thomson says. “You can go to your favourite Tim Hortons and pick up an order form and in 24 hours have your cookies back or just come in during the week to order some and know it is going towards a good cause.”

Last year $21,589.44 was donated to the Green Shirt Day campaign from holiday cookie sales. In 2023 the holiday cookies were so popular, that Lethbridge locations sold out of holiday cookie dough and had to pivot to selling chocolate chip smile cookies.

The Green Shirt Day Campaign honours and remembers Logan Boulet, who helped six people in 2018 by donating his organs after succumbing to his injuries from the Humboldt Broncos crash. Logan’s decision became known as the ‘Logan Boulet Effect,’ with roughly 150,000 Canadians registering to become organ donors in the following weeks. Green Shirt Day continues to raise awareness about organ donation.
