New town branding for Coalhurst coming in 2025

Coalhurst has taken the next steps in creating new town branding and website.

According to Town of Coalhurst officials, Coalhurst council approved a budget of up to $60,000 for the project, with the money coming from the Operational Projects Reserve. Work being done as part of the project includes a new town logo, new brand guidelines and brand voice documents.

The council is asking the community for input on the new brand to ensure it reflects the values and vision of Coalhurst’s future while honouring the town’s history. The public engagement is expected to be held at the beginning of next year, with officials expecting the new brand to launch in the first quarter of 2025.

Along with the new brand, a new municipal website is also being developed. The new site is expected to modernize the website along with improving the ease of use.

According to a statement from Town of Coalhurst officials, “Although the final brand will be informed by public input, feedback from Council, and guiding documents such as Council’s Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025, it will also be grounded in the new community aesthetic Council endorsed last month, using a modern approach to popular design in the 1930s.”

Contractors who specialize in this sort of work will be hired to complete the project, while town staff will provide support and guidance through the process. The town is also applying for a provincial grant through the Northern and Regional Economic Development program, which could possibly fund 50 per cent of the project.
