Blood Tribe elects new Chief and council

The results from the Blood Tribe’s 2024 election are in.  

The general voting day was Wednesday, November 27, with a total of 10 people running for Chief, with 59 people running for a seat on council. 

According to the official results, which are available at the Blood Tribe website, 3,446 votes were cast and, in the end, Traveller Plaited Hair received 771 votes to be elected Chief. 

Joel-Austin Tailfeathers was second with 613 votes, and Winston John Day Chief was third with 572 votes. Traveller Plaited Hair will succeed Roy Fox as Chief of the Blood Tribe.  

COUNCIL 

The following individuals were voted onto council: 

  • Piinaakoyim Buckskin Tailfeathers – 1,054  
  • Maria Bernadette Rusell – 965 
  • Clarence Roy Black Water – 952  
  • Patrick Black Plume – 900 
  • John Jared Little Bear – 731 
  • Elliot Neil Fox – 722 
  • Kirby Dean Many Fingers – 714 
  • Dorothy Theresa First Rider – 699  
  • Beth Ann Beatrice Daychief – 627 
  • Marcel Patrick Weasel Head – 614 
  • Franklyn White Quills – 595 
  • Kyla Deann Crow Spreads His Wings – 580
