A significant amount of drugs and several guns were seized from alleged drug dealers in the Lethbridge area at the end of November, with four people facing charges.
According to officials, members of the ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime team executed search warrants at homes in downtown Lethbridge, Raymond, and Coalhurst on November 21st as part of an investigation that started back in June. Officers are said to have seized four firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition along with cocaine, a suspected cocaine buffing agent and 41 unknown pills. Along with the weapons and drugs, police also seized body armour and $1,500 cash.
A release from police reads, “One of the rifles seized was believed to have been converted to fully automatic. Two prohibited magazines were also seized. The firearms will be submitted to ALERT’s Provincial Firearms Lab for further analysis and ballistics testing.”
Kira Davoren, Daud Mohamed, Jabediah Caswell and Randolph Langdale have all been charged in connection to the seizures. Davoren is only facing drug and trafficking-related charges while the other three accused are facing charges in connection to weapons and drugs.
ALERT Lethbridge Staff Sergeant Trevor Sheppard says the weapons seized were an is an obvious threat to community safety.
“This is an extensive arsenal of prohibited and dangerous weapons to be in the hands of people involved in drug trafficking,” Sheppard says.
The investigation is reported to have stemmed from a report of about suspected drug dealers who were believed to be in possession of guns.
