Police looking for witnesses in alleged downtown assault

The Lethbridge Police Service is asking for help in investigating an alleged assault.

Police say just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, December 22, an officer patrolling the 200 block of 13 Street South heard someone calling for help. The officer reportedly found a 24-year-old man on the ground, in distress. He was taken to hospital by EMS.

The LPS says its investigation found the man had previously been at Pulse, a downtown nightclub on 1 Avenue South, at around 2:20 a.m. when he was involved in a physical altercation with a group of men near a black pick-up truck parked in front of the establishment.

Police note after the alleged altercation, the victim walked away from the area and did not realize until later in the morning that he had been seriously injured.
