Lethbridge-West by-election results made official

Results from the Lethbridge-West by-election have been made official. 

The Alberta NDP’s Rob Miyashiro is the successful candidate and will represent the riding as MLA, replacing Shannon Phillips, who resigned in the summer.  

Miyashiro received 7,238 total votes, with the UCP’s John Middleton-Hope receiving 6,093 and Alberta Party candidate Layton Veverka getting 237 votes.

Elections Alberta says voter turnout was 36 per cent, compared to 61.5 per cent in the 2023 provincial general election. The by-election saw 13,615 ballots cast, from a total of 37,828 eligible voters. The agency says 40.8 per cent of people cast their ballot in-person on general voting day Wednesday, December 18, and 49 per cent voted in advance.
