City opens Community Capital Projects Grant applications

Non-profits in Lethbridge can now apply for the latest intake of the Community Capital Projects Grant.

Funds from the program help support local groups with facility construction, renovations, retrofits and major equipment purchases that can improve community services.

The program features two funding streams, with funding ranging to a maximum of $25,000 to $200,000.

The first is the Planning Assistance stream, which supports what is described as professional planning and design services for capital projects.

This can include environmental site analysis, geotechnical reports, preliminary design and feasibility studies, with funding up to $25,000 or 50 per cent of the project costs.

The second stream is for Capital Assistance, which officials say supports new facility construction, expansions, renovations, retrofits, tech upgrades and major equipment purchases, with funding of up to $200,000, or a third of the project’s cost, available for applicants.

The City notes the program prioritizes projects that help promote inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility in recreation, education and wellbeing opportunities.

The application deadline is March 31, with more information available at the City website.
