With over 27 years as a Class A Professional with the PGA of Canada, Dean Spriddle has been named the new head coach of the University of Lethbridge’s golf program.
Pronghorn Athletics says Spriddle brings a wealth of experience, expertise and a proven track record of success to lead the Pronghorns. Spriddle will build upon the Pronghorns’ recent successes, elevating the program within Canada West and U Sports golf.
“Taking on the role of head coach for Pronghorn Golf is an exciting challenge and I’m looking forward to helping develop young golfers. It’s a fun and rewarding process. I can’t wait to work with our student-athletes to help them succeed, on and off the course,” says Spriddle.
Spriddle’s career highlights include being named Canadian PGA “Teacher of the Year” and earning five Alberta PGA “Teacher of the Year” awards.
“I want the U of L to be a place where student-athletes come for a great education and the opportunity to compete in a sport they love. I believe with the right structure and support, this will become a premiere destination for golf in Canada. As a former player and coach with UBC, I’ve seen firsthand the level of competition out there and I’d love to build a team that’s capable of competing at that. Ultimately, we want to be in a position to challenge and beat the top schools in the country,” notes Spriddle.
Pronghorn Athletics Athletic Director Spencer Pommells adds Spriddle’s distinguished career and proven leadership in the world of golf make him the ideal candidate to take the U of L’s program to the next level. “Dean’s experience, mentorship and vision for the future will have a profound impact on our student-athletes and the overall success of Pronghorn Golf.”
