Thousands of doses of meth and fentanyl were seized over the weekend and two people are facing charges in connection to the seizure.
According to Lethbridge Police Service officials on Saturday officers stopped a vehicle after they reportedly saw the driver fail to stop at a stop sign and fail to use a turn signal. According to police, the driver was found with open liquor inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia. When police searched the vehicle they also seized nearly 170 grams of meth, which police say is equal to 1,700 doses and 279 grams of fentanyl which is equal to 2,790 doses along with drug paraphernalia and two fake license plates.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was breaching conditions of his release order and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for driving while unauthorized. Both the driver of the vehicle and one of the passengers were charged in connection to the drug seizure, while a third person was released without charges.
