People’s Party of Canada candidate for Foothills Paul O’Halloran says a vote for him means a vote for fighting government overreach.
The former member of the Canadian Armed Forces says there is an overreach from Ottawa via taxes and what he calls “resource mismanagement”, is a fight he believes he is suited to win.
“Energy, agriculture, and small businesses drive us, but the carbon tax hammers farmers and truckers, while Bills C-48 and C-69 choke our oil and gas,” he says.
“We’re overtaxed, overregulated, and sidelined when we demand resource control. I’ll slash taxes, ditch the carbon levy, and reclaim pipeline jurisdiction—Ottawa’s disconnect is strangling Foothills’ prosperity.”
O’Halloran says further to the overreach from Ottawa, one of his main goals, if he is able to secure a victory in the April 28th election, would be to call for cuts to all corporate subsidies, including bailouts, grants, and tax credits—that favor big firms over our small businesses.
“I’ll lower the corporate tax rate from 15% to 10% over one mandate, for local firms to raise wages or invest, boosting productivity without Ottawa’s interference.”
He says he would also push to phase out the capital gains tax, dropping the inclusion rate from 50% to 0%.

As of April 4th, confirmed candidates for the riding include O’Halloran, Conservative candidate John Barlow and Liberal candidate John Bruinsma.
