Hurricanes netminder Unger named WHL Goaltender of the Week

The Lethbridge Hurricanes are riding a 2-0 lead in their second-round playoff series against the Calgary Hitmen and are celebrating some additional good news on top of that.

Jackson Unger has been named the Pharmasave WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 13. It is the second time Unger has earned the award this season, having won it in mid-December.

The 20-year-old led all netminders in the league with a 2-0-0-0 record, a 0.50 goals-against average, a .985 save percentage and one shutout. Unger impressed in game one of the Hurricanes’ series against the Hitmen last Thursday, securing a 33-save shutout in a 4-0 win at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The goalie was named first star of the game.

The ‘Canes picked up a 2-1 road win on Saturday, with Unger once again named first star of the game, with a .970 save percentage.
