Finches are extraordinary, delicate, soft-spoken songbirds that are found all over the world & they’re some of the smallest birds around.
Male finches are often more musical with their soft song.

Lady Gouldian Finches or Rainbow finches are some of the most brilliantly colored birds, covered in bright purple, green, red, orange, and yellow feathers!

They’re known as a “jewel of Australia!” & that’s where they’re from.
Fitting nicely on Rainbow finches, a group of finches is called a charm!
Some other notable finches we often have at Petland are the strawberry, green singer, java, zebra, and Pin-tailed Whydah Finch!
The Pin-tailed Whydah really stands out.
The male grows a 20 cm long tail!
Their diet consists of pellets, seeds, spray millet which is always a favorite and fruits and vegetables.
Cuttlebone is also an important addition and if they’re not on a pellet diet vitamins should be offered. The vitamin supplement Prime is one of my favorites to use.
Many finches are found in nature in large flocks and as pets, they thrive with companionship.
They enjoy the company of other finches, canaries & other gentle feathered companions that could be housed in the same aviary or large flight cage.
The more space one can give them the better.
