Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services crews are actively responding to a grass fire west of Scenic Drive, near the Water Treatment Plant and south of Whoop Up Drive. 

With spring bringing warmer, drier conditions, southern Albertans are entering a period of heightened wildfire risk. This spring, regional fire departments have already responded to controlled burns that have gotten out of control. As such, Lethbridge County wants to remind residents, farms and landowners of the critical importance of abiding by the County’s fire bylaw and following safe practices when conducting controlled burns. 

No injuries were reported, after a southside backyard structure fire Tuesday.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire on Trent Road West at 12:55 a.m. Mar. 9. 

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind you about the dangers of cooking with oil. LFES crews have responded to several recent incidents where cooking oil was left unattended on the stove, leading to flashover fires.  

Motorists are being asked to avoid an area west of Scenic Drive where crews are battling on the scene of a grass fire.

The cause of a porch fire on the Lethbridge's west side that caused roughly $20,000 in property damage is under investigation.

Lethbridge County is asking residents to return to the site of their controlled burns to make sure they do not see signs of smoke or smoldering.

Warm weather, dry conditions and forecasted winds has resulted in officials issuing a fire ban for the City of Lethbridge River Valley.
