Fort Whoop Up Opening Day

Nestled in the scenic Oldman River Valley, Fort Whoop-Up is getting ready to open for the summer! Join them for the official opening of the 2025 season, on May 15 at 10 a.m.
The season opening celebration will feature the unveiling of a brand-new mural by NIITSITAPI/SIKSIKA artist Sikapinakii Low Horn on the outside walls of Fort Whoop Up! Stick around to learn from Blackfoot knowledge keepers, and enjoy a day of crafts, storytelling, and hands-on activities for the whole family. Free entry from 10AM to NOON.
Learn about Alberta’s early history through the stories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, and early settlers who lived and traded in the valley. Explore historic gardens, resident livestock, a fantastic locally curated gift shop, and immersive river valley trail experiences! There’s something for everyone at Fort Whoop-Up.
